Lunch and Learn: Starting a Career with the Federal Government

Students are invited to hear from Energy & Climate Consultant, Shiyana Gunasekara.

After completing a U.S. Fulbright Award in Sri Lanka and earning her MA in International Economics and International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University SAIS, she entered the international trade and development space and found my niche in the areas of the energy transition, natural gas and LNG, maritime trade, and the Indian Ocean Region.

Over the years, she has led projects related to market-driven economic development and trade in the public sector (U.S. government), private sector (commercial advisory and international arbitration), and as an independent consultant.

When time allows, she enjoys contributing articles and guest-speaking on topics she is passionate about including South Asian energy security, all things Sri Lanka, emerging markets, #BlueEconomy, and diversity in U.S. foreign policy and international affairs.

Currently, she is an appointed member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce’s National Agenda Committee for Energy, a 2021 Women Leaders in Energy Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center, and a 2021 Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) Fellow.

This is an open event to California Community College students, faculty and staff.
